Do we ever take time to be thankful?

As I read the paper or watch the news, I realize just how truly blessed I am. I have a wonderful husband and son, as well as my health, job and so much more. Like everyone, I sometimes take this for granted and I realize that I can not allow myself to do this any longer. Nothing is certain and things can change in a matter of seconds. To me material things do not matter, it is the relationships that I have in my life that are most important. Be it my relationship with God, my husband, son, friends or other family, those matter. Reading that there is a young mother, 9 months pregnant missing in Ohio, there were soldiers injured or killed in Iraq or a father kidnaps his 3 children, then has a high speed chase with the police, he proceeds to drives his car into a tree which results in his death and 2 of his children, it sure doesn't take long to be thankful and realize how truly blessed one is. I have had some trying times in my life, but unlike some, I feel these all happened for a reason. I hold my head up high and realize that a person only gets one chance at the life here on earth and I want to make the best of it. I want to live everyday with a spring in my step and cherish the blessings I have in my life.
"Life without thankfulness is devoid of love and passion. Hope without thankfulness is lacking in fine perception. Faith without thankfulness lacks strength and fortitude. Every virtue divorced from thankfulness is maimed and limps along the spiritual road. "

What a great post!! When things are down in the dumps we always need to remember how much worse things could be and how good we really DO have it. :))
Amen to that! It took me a long time to accept the trying times, realize it shaped who I have become and to move on and be the best me I can be. Things could be so much worse. The missing pregnant woman, and the highspeed chase, weigh on my heart heavily. God bless those families and much thanks to god for mine!
Have a great weekend Tess!
