Trip down memory lane.

Saturday night we went to the races at Lake County Speedway. It was a full house as they had a special pastors race that night. 10 local pastors jumped into some of the cars and raced for the win! It was hilarious, I haven't enjoyed the races that much in years! The crowd was going crazy and the cars were flying around the track. OK, maybe flying isn't the appropriate term, but they were going around the track at a steady, Sunday afternoon drive pace! Pastor Tim from Living Hope Wesleyan Church captured the trophy with the other nine drivers finishing soon after. I truly enjoyed watching that race, it was great to see genuine enthusiasm from the fans and drivers.

Another activity that was an attention getter for us was that Ryan (Craig's Brother) decided to substitute drive for a sportsman car!! It was like a trip down memory lane hearing his name announced over the loud speaker and seeing him cruise around the track. Just like the good ole days! For never being in that car before, he did awesome!! Craig said he was so nervous for him he could have thrown up!! That brought me back to the very first time Ryan raced, that was my exact feelings. The unknowns!! He did well back than and he did the same this weekend. When he crossed the finish line in the feature, the car did have a mishap but all in all it went well. The transmission on the car basically exploded, breaking the drive shaft and having the 90 weight grease ignite in a short burst of flames. It was all over as quickly as it began and Ryan safely rolled to the back stretch and was pushed into the infield. I must admit seeing Ryan visiting with his family during intermission and after the race made me understand that the racing itch isn't just about racing, it is about the family and friends bonding together. I could definitely tell he was very happy to be out there again and it made him glow to see his family there supporting him. If only there wasn't the little issue of cost that goes with it. Here is a picture of them during intermission I thought I would share.

Here is a picture of Micah towards the end of the races. He just couldn't take it anymore!!! He did wake up for the sprints and the pastors race though! He really got into the pastors race, clapping his hands and bouncing up and down. I think it was because the crowd was cheering so much, but it was cute!!

Ahhh, the good old days. I agree with you about the family and friends thing. I miss the fun times but I don't miss the money flying out of our hands. The races just are not the same to me now that a lot of the "guys" are not out there anymore. Al has been tossing the idea around of jumping in Sammy's car one night. We will see if he does.

You just got me thinking about when we raced the powder puff. You were a maniac. I felt like I was in the movie Days of thunder the second time we did it and you took Corey's wife out. (Having a brain fart. Cannot remember her name.) I also thought I won gosh darnit! GOOD TIMES!!!!

Races are so much fun. I bet Ryan loved that feeling. I don't think racers ever get it out of there system no matter how long it has been.

Great pic of Ryan and his family!!

Micah is so precious sleeping. :)
