Night #2

Last night was #2 for little man in his big boy bed. I had volleyball so it was up to dad to do bedtime. He said it went well and he didn't fight it at all. A little while after he was put to bed, Craig said he walked out into the living room and said, "Mommy?" Craig explained that I would come in and say good night when I got home and put him back to bed. He stayed there until I got home a little while later. I went in and said goodnight like promised and he was wide awake! I thought to myself, OH NO, we are in trouble!! Haa.. After our good night hugs and kisses, he was tucked snuggly into bed and I left his room. He promptly removed himself from his bed and walked out into the living room again. He didn't say anything, he just stood there. It was kind of cute! I walked him back to his bed, tucked him in again and left. The next time this happened, Craig mentioned that he didn't read him a bedtime story, so maybe that is what he wanted. I said ok and we sat down in the chair, read a QUICK story and off to bed again. He proceeded to get out of his bed 5 more times or so! Finally daddy heard him playing with his toys and that was it. Micah didn't argue after dad put him back into bed! I cried a little bit, but he did stay there. He slept through the night and this morning he was up and greeting me in our room! He was so proud of himself for getting out of bed, I could just see it in his eyes.

All in all, I think it went ok for the 2nd night. I was hoping he would surprise us and be a very good boy, but I figured he would test us on this. We will see what tonight holds!! Wish us luck!

Just stick to your guns and put him back to bed. He will realize that you guys are serious when it is bed time.

That is so funny that he was playing with his toys. He tried!!

It is hard to switch them from a crib to big boy bed.
Too cute that he just walked into your room in the morning.
Wishing you good luck with the transition.

You can't blame a boy for testing out his options!! Funny! I hope tonight goes better for you guys. He'll get used to it!

A friend of mine used to put their baby gate up in the doorway, so their son would at least stay in his room. She didn't care if he played in there, and eventually he would put himself to bed. I don't know if I would do that. I think it's better to be on top of it and make them go to bed. I would sure hate for them to stay up too late and be cranky the next morning. Goodluck!

I hope last night went better for you guys. I'm sure it's just going to take Micah a little while to get use to his new "freedom". Good luck! :)

Haa haa!! Tracy, I can honestly say that I have seen a few episodes where she taught the parents what to do! So those tips have stuck in my head!! Probably sounds cheesy but the truth!
