For the second time in less than a week, a line of severe storms crawled across the state on Wednesday, spitting tornadoes, damaging homes and sending Nebraskans to their basements. There were no reports of deaths or serious injuries, but damage reports in the Lincoln area stretched from Ulysses to Ceresco.Across Nebraska, communities reported torrential rain and hail as large as baseballs. Flash flood warnings were issued across much of the state.
And there were more storms on the way early Thursday morning.Ulysses: ‘We called for the whistle to blow’After the storm passed through Ulysses, officials cordoned off the town, which had lost its electricity. The storm heavily damaged four homes west of Ulysses, firefighter Greg Smith said, and knocked down power lines in this Butler County town about 50 miles northwest of Lincoln. At 7:30 p.m., Smith and two other firefighters — Jon White and Jason Muenchrath — were storm-spotting about three miles southwest of town.“There were three tornadoes on the ground within a quarter of mile of us when we called for the whistle to blow.”They watched the three funnels merge into one — and they took off.“Jason was going as hard as he could and as fast as he could, and I didn’t think we were going to get out of there,” Smith said.Driving through Ulysses at 8:15 p.m., Butler County Sheriff Mark Hecker was certain a tornado had hit.Outbuildings on many farms were damaged or destroyed, he said. The storm had knocked over irrigation pivots. And hecker said a Rising City firefighter told him tree tops had been damaged in a way that could only have been from a tornado.

Ulysses, NE is where Harlan and Sandy live. (Craig's parents). We were able to get into contact with them last night via phone and they are safe. They said lots of tree damage and downed power lines as the article above stated, but other than that, they are good! All I can say is -
THANK YOU LORD FOR KEEPING THEM SAFE!

I am glad everyone is okay. It's days like this (where the wind is picking up and the rain is coming down hard) that scares me about having 10 precious lives in my home.

Tornados are scary stuff!!

I'm glad you got in touch with them and they are safe. It sounds like we are going to have another scary night here in SD tonight. I am hoping the tornadoes miss us...I'll be at work and I hate leaving my family on nights like this!! Not to mention that I will be working on the 4th floor of the hospital with nowhere to go!!
