Happy Tuesday! What a bright sunshiny day we are having!! It is a whopping 52 degrees and that means we are getting ever so close to shorts and t-shirt weather! I say that is cause for celebration, so tonight I am going to go out for supper with some gal pals that I played volleyball with. I had a massage at noon and do indeed need a nap! I don't think that is in the cards, so I guess I will just keep plugging away at the day.
Last weekend was a very good and productive weekend! Friday night I didn't do a whole lot but watch H.S. basketball. The local boys basketball team made it to the state tourney. They won Thursday and they won Friday which put them in the state championship game Saturday night. They didn't come out of the gate very strong and at half time were down by around 10 points. The second half started out about the same but in the 4th quarter they came alive! They had great defense and they made some very key offensive plays. Of course hitting 26 of 27 free throws during the game didn't hurt! They played their hearts out and left everything on the court it was awesome to watch. They ended up winning the game and capturing the state title again! Yes, AGAIN, they won last year too!!
Saturday was work day around our household. I gathered up all my supplies and headed to the garage. Craig gathered his materials and went down the basement. Micah floated between the two of us! :) I set up camp in the garage and began sanding and staining the trim for Micah's bedroom. I don't mind staining at all, it is the sanding part that I don't like! Thankfully Craig came out and helped knock down the big parts and I just did a final sand. So, the trim has been stained and is waiting for me to clear it. I still have a lot more stuff to stain, but it is a start! Craig did a little wall building and sheet rocking again this weekend. He was happy with his progress! We were able to check off a few of our items on the huge "TO DO" list!!
Sunday we went to church and then got back to work on the house. Micah enjoyed himself as he was able to play in the garage for a long time! He really wants nice weather so he can get his swimming pool out! I told him I thought that it was going to be a while before he can do that! :) Sunday evening we had our small group at church and Micah was able to play with all his friends! The babysitters must have worn them out by playing outside because he was one tuckered out little boy!!! He slept good that night!! After we got home, I got comfy in the recliner and watch the SDSU Lady Jackrabbits in the NCAA tourney. They played #3 Oklahoma @ OK so that was a tough draw. They played well but in the end couldn't pull out a win. They did well and I look forward to seeing them there for years to come!!
We had our first trip to Acute care last night (Monday, March 22). When Craig picked up Micah he was crying and saying his thumb hurt. Nobody thought much of it because nothing had "happened" to it. I got home around 5:00 or so and Micah was still complaining about it. He had his hand like this (see picture below) and he wouldn't use it at all.
While eating supper it rested in his lap and he never moved it. So after he was done eating, I had him lay it flat on the table (after alot of promises that I wouldn't touch it!). He finally did but he cried big alligator tears and trembled like it really really hurt! We didn't see anything wrong, but we very concerned. So, I thought I would play a trick on him and see if he would play Mario Bros! I asked him if he wanted to play it and he shook his head no and said, "Mommy, you have to play by yourself, i can't, my thumb hurts!" Ok, RED FLAG!! He is addicted to that game and I swear plays it in his sleep! After a phone call to see how long they were open, Micah and I headed to Acute Care. He did great the entire time, never cried, was very content waiting for his turn etc. The entire time, holding his hand with his thumb tucked in and I tried many times to have him open his hand and he wasn't having it! He is such the little charmer, he did all the talking to the nurse himself. He answered all her questions very well and of course won her heart. She did manage to get him to open his hand and rest it on the desk, but she had to promise not to touch it! :) She tried getting him to touch his pinky to his thumb - he would with his right hand but not his left. The doctor came in and after answering many questions about certain things in the room, like what is that button for and what is that a picture of etc, he recommended xrays just to be sure. He did well with the xrays and when she showed him the pictures on the screen he wanted her to make a "Big" picture of his bones! She laughed and said, "You tell the doctor that, I need a bigger screen!" So, of course Micah obliged and sent that message to the doctor! lol.. After review of the xrays, it was determined that there was no broken bones. He figures he sprained it somehow. Of course right before we left, Micah looks at me, wiggles his thumb and says, "Mommy, it feels better! The thumb doctor fixed it!" hummmmm... Oh well, I slept alot better being sure than being worried that something was terribly wrong. It was exactly the report we hoped! Whew.
Here he is after we got home. He is giving me the thumbs with the hurt thumb to show it is A.O.K! Oh yes, and donuts for a being such a trooper were necessary!! :-) (Yup, he has chocolate all over his face!
Have a great week everyone!! This weekend is once again going to be busy..

Glad Micah's thumb is ok. Better to get it checked out just in case. I do that with Davis too. I don't want to "miss" anything if there is something wrong. Love the thumbs up picture...too cute :)!
