Happy May to you all! The mood around our household as improved greatly thanks to sunshine, warmth and lots of outside time! I don't think we even noticed the funk we were in during this past winter. It has been a great blessing to get outside and enjoy the fresh air!
A while back on our way home from daycare we stumbled across the "other Nelson's" outside doing some gardening. Micah was chatting away and decided that Ebeni had to come over and play. They had a ball doing a number of things, mainly just being kids!!

The end result.. Micah was filthy! Gotta love being a kid!!
As I have posted earlier, we are busy trying to finish remodeling Micah's new bedroom. We really wanted to get the same carpet we have in Micah's current room, but HOLY COW, the price was crazy! We are still exploring our options and trying to figure out what we want to do there. We did get a bedroom set purchased for him! Wow, shopping for furniture was sure an eye opening experience for us as well. We did not realize that all the nice bedroom sets were still "fake" wood! All are either laminate or veneer not a hard wood! We did manage to find a hard wood set and decided to get it. Micah fell in love with it as it is a captain's bed with drawers under 1/2 the bed. The foot board has a door on it that allows him to crawl underneath the open 1/2 and play like he is in a fort! I can only imagine how many times he is going to fall asleep under there! We have been busy sanding and staining the trim and closet door for his room. We are almost done with that so hopefully Craig will begin trimming it out this week! Yee Haw!!While we were on our shopping adventure for furniture I also purchased a new camera! I really had no idea what I wanted, but I did know what I didn't want. The lady at Best Buy was AWESOME and had a lot of knowledge she was able to share. I ended up getting a Canon PowerShot SD1400is. I love it so far and I believe it has all the options + that I could ever want. Time will tell I guess, but so far so good!!
That evening we headed to A-town to help celebrate John's 30th birthday. Grandma Michelle watched all the grand babies so we could all go out and have some fun. We didn't stay to long, but we did enjoy ourselves. Craig and I mainly shot pool the whole time we were there as we don't do well with the stand around and stare at each other type setting! I realized how much I miss it and I still manage to play pretty well! This might be something I have to start playing again in the future.
Do you remember delivering May Day baskets as a kid? I have memories of doing that and of how much fun it was! I decided it was a must do at our house this year! Micah and I even recruited Craig to help!! By the end of the creating of course Micah was DONE so of course mom and dad had to finish up! Here are a few pictures..
Craig and Micah coloring the "Flowers" for our pencils!
Micah with all his May Day baskets!!
Of course, being the little photographer he is, we had to have a picture too!
(Not to bad for his first picture with the new camera!)
I had prepared him on the rules of this before we delivered them!I envisioned him having a fit because he couldn't stop and visit everyone!! I told him if he didn't run and they caught him he would get kissed! That seemed to do the trick! He had a great time running back to the truck!! I haven't talked about our feline children much since a certain little boy came into the picture! They are doing well, getting old and feisty but otherwise they are well.
Sylvester.. She has turned into quite the cat. As some of you know, she was the crabby patty of the household. Anytime you would get near her she would growl and hiss. In the past year she has completely changed. It has to be the fact that she is 10 1/2 years old! She has become very persistent in hounding us for attention and she has been NAUGHTY! Last week I made banana bread and we had a little but put the remainder in a zip lock bag on the counter. The next day when I came home at noon it was laying on the kitchen floor with holes chewed through the bag and crumbs throughout the kitchen! The next day, I had a partial bag of chips on the counter. The next morning I walk into the kitchen and there is the bag with Baxter's head in it. Well, I know Baxter didn't get on the counter because he can't jump that high! (Fatty). Anyway, the bag was completely empty. I turned around and I see Sylvester standing there with this kind of look on her face.
WHO? ME?
Baxter - oh - Baxter (9 1/2 yrs old)
He is def. the head of the household. He is our diabetic cat and I give him 2 shots of insulin a day. He has been doing really well on the medicine which we are thankful for. He has his own little system and golly gee, you better not forget any part of it!! If you open a can of Tuna or Chicken he is right there persistently demanding you give him the can to lick clean!! If you open the "junk drawer" beware he will hound you until you give him a fuzzy mouse toy out of that drawer. If you go into the bathroom and he is sitting on the toilet, he will exclaim "MEOW, MEOW." Translation "it is time to brush me!" If we stay up to late, he will lay in our door way and just stare at us. If it gets really late he will lay upside down and sleep. I believe this is his way of showing his disapproval for interrupting his sleep schedule!
Here is Mr. Baxter...

They are both good cats and we are thankful we have them. Baxter and Micah are best buddies! Most nights Baxter will start off sleeping with us and end up in Micah's bed. Sylvester doesn't care for Micah so much. I believe it has to do with Micah chasing her around hissing at her! Even if that is what she has done to him his entire life!! :) He also gets after her all the time for being on the counter so my guess is that the little boy irritates her!!
This weekend is a busy one!! Friday night is supper with Ryan and Brandy to celebrate Ryan's Birthday!! Saturday is groceries and Sunday is Mother's Day! Micah has a program at church and Grandma Michelle and Grandpa Kurt are coming up to watch. SHHHHHHHH! It's a secret!! Micah will be so surprised!!! After his program we are going to have dinner and see what else he can talk us into!
