Ken &Nikki, Dorothy & Frank and more.....

Saturday, October 9th, we headed to Marshall, MN to our friends, Ken and Nikki's. They had a gathering of friends and their families. It was great to see everyone! It was wonderful to see the kids have so much fun playing together and building memories. Micah had a blast and all he can talk about is Garet's go cart and how much fun it was to ride.

Here are a couple of pictures..

Micah waiting in the "pits" for his turn on the go cart.
Craig and Micah going for a ride!
Chase and I. He was the only one daring enough to ride with me! :-)
We also played some bean bags and the kids played Wii and just played together. We got home about midnight.
Sunday morning we headed to Blair, NE for the visitation for my Aunt Dorothy and Uncle Frank. They had a double memorial on Sunday and a double funeral on Monday. We picked up my cousin, Lena on the way as we were going right by and there was no need for her to drive down by herself. We ended up grabbing lunch in Beresford and low and behold, Craig locked the keys in the car. I had my keys of course, but they were in my purse in the car! Opps!! Lena bless her heart had AAA so she called and they were there in a few minutes. Micah of course had a million questions for the man who was trying to get our keys! They guy was a good sport and explained what he was doing for him. After this delay, we hit the road. We arrived in Blair about 3:00 PM as well as the majority of my family. My sister, Michelle and Kurt, My brother Ed and his girlfriend Martha, My brother Kevin and his wife Cindy, Lena's sister, Peggy, her husband Wayne and daughter Sarah all arrived at the same time. We payed our respects to my aunt and uncle at the funeral home and then we were invited over to my cousin, Tim's house. They had a lot more family there and despite the situation, everyone seemed to be doing well. It was nice to see everyone and get to meet some family members in person that I had never met. Of course the typical conversations of "we have to stop meeting like this or we have to stop meeting at only weddings and funerals" took place and hopefully we can make that happen. We ended up getting home about 9:00 PM so that wasn't to bad.

Monday, October 12th, Micah had storytime and Craig started pool league. Micah loves going to the library to get books and movies. His newest find is computer games! He found a Bob the Builder game he wanted to try. Surprisingly he does very well on the computer and has figured out the buttons to push to make it work quickly. Craig's first night of pool went pretty well. Sounds like he won 2 matches and lost one. I hope he has a good season!!
Tuesday morning, I had leadership Madison. This is a program I am doing through my work and so far it has been very interesting. There are approx 20-30 people in the group and we are divided up into small groups. Our group has 5 people in it. We have to do a small project to help better some aspect of the community. I think our group is planning on teaming up with the Domestic Violence Network. This organization of course is close to my heart so I find it very easy to support them. This week, we took a tour of a local colony. I find it very intriguing and interesting. It was en lighting to learn about a different culture and lifestyle than ours. It was also nice to learn of how many similarities there are between their lives and ours.
Tuesday night Craig did some wiring at the church so Micah and I hung out. It was a good night and I believe Craig got alot of work done.
Wednesday I had a lunch date with my small group for Leadership Madison. We at ate Mochavino which is a local coffee shop. The sandwich I had was wonderful and I can't wait to go back! My sandwich had turkey, bacon, mayo and guacamole. (You could have tomatoes but I said no thank you!) Wednesday night I worked out and Craig went back to the church to do more work. It sounds like it didn't go quite as well the 2nd night as the first, but hopefully they will get it figured out.

Thursday night I had co-ed volleyball. We didn't do to great, but hopefully down the home stretch we will do better. It has def been an up and down year!
Friday night we didn't have anything planned and it was great to be home as a family. Micah decided he wanted to do some "Cutting". He is really getting into this school thing. He did pretty well except that his hand got tired from cutting so much and he ruined the glue stick by turning it all the way up when I wasn't looking. He then tried to use it and it fell out of the stick. He was alitte upset about it until I told him not to worry, I can buy another one. Then everything was ok in Micah's world..
Saturday, I got groceries with Dana in SF. She wasn't feeling very well, so I hope that she will feel better soon. Craig was mowing when I got home and when he finished up he went to work for a little while. Micah and I walked down to the cousins and spent about an hour visiting and letting them play together. Micah and I decided to run down there and run home! I was huffing and puffing but I didn't feel to bad when Micah was huffing and puffing too! :)
This morning we had church. Micah still loves going to Sunday school, hopefully that will continue for many years to come! We picked up donuts on the way home and shortly after that, Micah and I took a nap! I was tuckered out for some reason. Craig watched a movie while we did that. Afterwards, Ryan came over to help us shave our cat Sylvester. I know, that sounds funny, but she had really bad matted fur and we really didn't have any other option. Fortunately for her it was mainly on her underside so she doesn't look completely dumb! I did cut her once pretty good and Craig just about lost his lunch. He will never work in the medical field or be an avid hunter that is for sure. I threw neosporine on it and a band aid. We will see how long she will keep the band aid on, but I figured it was worth a try. Micah and Craig watched Iron Man while I watched the Vikings play. They won!!! 2-3 sounds much better than 1 - 4! I guess all hope is not lost yet for them to come together and have a successful season.
I hope everyone has a great week! Ta Ta for now!
