January 2011

I am finding myself in a blogging block these last few weeks. My apologies to you all for the lack of updates. I have been through this in the past and generally I come out of it, but it just takes time to free get my blogging juices flowing again. Please bare with me, it will get better!

We have been spending time as a family and simply moving through life and sometimes that seems to be about all we can handle. It has been pretty "calm" in our world, so that probably adds to the blogger block!

If you happen to stop by our house, this is what you might find.

Micah playing his DS while cuddling with his daddy! One project we did have was to make bouncy balls! Micah received this gift from Santa and finally convinced us it was time to do it! We had a great time and made some pretty fancy colored bouncy balls!!

Micah and daddy preparing the goods! One happy boy! The end resultSylvester decide she wanted to help!Baxter was not happy she was helping! At Micah's request we played "Eye" spy!Or is it "Eyes" spy? Then it was treat time! On January 15th, we traveled to IA to the Meyer's house for the Sommervold Christmas. It was wonderful to see everyone and have a chance to visit. I didn't take to many pictures as I was enjoying the company and conversations! We played games and talked about the good ole days!

Erik and JaxonMicah with his "mean" football player face! The kids put on a little concert for everyone! It was cute and they did a really good job. Micah had a bit of a melt down as he wanted to sing his "other" version of Jingle Bells but it didn't go well. He was just crushed that he didn't do it, but after some down time he was fine.

Micah is still enjoying preschool. They are working on their letters, colors and shapes. He has also started story time at the library again. It is quite the social gathering for kids! Sunday school is also a highlight of his week, another social gathering with his friends! Recently he had his first ear infection. He was extremely restless during the night. Craig got up with him about 3:00AM and they spent an hour or so cuddling in the chair. Micah finally told Craig his ear hurt. After some Tylenol and cuddles, he was sleeping like a baby. He went to the doctor the next day and sure enough, he had an ear infection in his right ear. All seems to be fine now so the medication must be working like a charm.

Craig has been keeping busy at work. They recently did a job for another electrician. He had a job that was bid out and had a couple me quit his company so he was in need of some help. He is still shooting pool and doing well.

My women's volleyball league started up again. I missed the first week due to being in Pierre for the day. My leadership Madison group went out for "Madison hosts the legislature". Truthfully, I was not looking forward to it but in the end, it was a very enjoyable experience. We rode a charter bus out there which flew by due to great conversation! We had lunch where we had to explain what our small groups were doing for our projects. I did the speaking for our group, surprisingly, I wasn't even nervous. Lucky for me, I went first so it always makes it easier! Our project is assisting the local domestic violence network with their marketing. They recently reopened a shelter and we are helping to raise awareness to their organization by doing public service announcements for the radio, creating new brochures, creating a video for their presentation process, creating a facebook page and possibly updating their website. As most of you know, domestic violence is something that is dear to my heart as far as awareness, so creating my public service announcement was a welcomed challenge. I really didn't know how I was going to put my thoughts into 30 seconds, but I did manage to come up with something. After our lunch in Pierre, we went to the capital building and took a tour and witnessed the legislature session in action. As a group, we also had the chance to have a meeting with our new Governor. After this meeting we boarded the bus and went to the Governor's mansion. His wife was to give us a tour but due to her having the flu, their oldest daughter Laura gave the tour. The mansion is very nice and she did a great job of giving the tour. After that we went to the Ramkota and had our reception/social that is hosted for all the legislatures and representatives. It was an opportunity to visit one on one with the people we elected. After the reception, we boarded the bus and took the 3 hr bus ride home. We managed to hit a deer in the bus but it could have been worse, he could have hit all 5 that were standing in the road!! All I have to say is, the score is bus = 1, deer = 0.. The driver was a little shook, but I would have been too! As far as we could see, there wasn't so much as a dent in the bus..
Craig and I are going to be starting a study on Revelations at church with a small group of people. We are looking forward to this study and all that it will reveal. Micah will be hanging with some of the other kids that will be there and playing out their little hearts.
For the most part, we have simply been living life. I think we are all in a little bit of a winter funk but it is nothing out of the ordinary. There is no doubt we are looking forward to spring and warmer weather.
Until next time.....

I haven't been blogging much lately either. I just haven't been on the computer much, too many other things going on! We are just going with the flow of life at our house too!
