Basketball, Monster Trucks & Swimming

Micah found his new favorite hat. It has Abu from Aladdin on it and it was mine from my college years. We were going through boxes in the basement and he just had to keep it.
On Saturday, January 21st, Micah and I rode with the Steuerwald's up to Hamlin, SD. Little Ms. Briana had a 4th grade basketball tourney up there. Micah was pumped to get to see his BFF Chase. We didn't have the best weather so we decided to car pool which was great. They did fantastic and ended up with a 1-1 record. It put a smile on my face to watch them this season. Last year when I watched, it was.........let's say painful. Ha. This year however, you can see they "get" it. The little things you take for granted after spending so many years of your life playing or watching basketball were starting to make an appearance on the court. They were rebounding, anticipating the pass and even getting a few steals, actually being able to run plays and improvise with passing to open people etc. It was fun and I really enjoyed it.

Sunday, January 22nd we had a Taco Feed at church for our missions team. It was a great day and it was great to get to visit with everyone and get to know them a little better before we head out. We received a tremendous amount of encouragement that day from everyone in our congregation and it was awesome to be a part of.

Saturday the 28th we had a women's event at church called "Chilled but Filled". It was a morning set aside for us women to gather and simply enjoy each other's company. We had 3 breakout sessions available for the women to join and one of those Dana and I did. It was called Facebook 101 and it covered the basics of Facebook for those that aren't overly comfortable using it. We covered the basic etiquette and security settings as well as a few other things that we felt people had questions on. We seemed to receive a positive vibe from the ladies who joined our session so hopefully it was informative for them. We also had a social time and then we had the opportunity to have a women from our congregation share her testimony. She share a wonderful, heartfelt, real testimony with us. It was awesome and I was so thankful I was there to hear it.
After the event, I had to hurry out of there. Craig and I were taking Micah and his buddy, Josiah to Sioux Falls to the monster trucks! They were pretty pumped for this and I think deep down Craig and I were just as excited! I took lots of pictures of course!
They practically ran into the arena!
Waiting for it to start!
One of the trucks, Xtreme Eagle. He didn't last long as he started on fire and couldn't return.
They thought this was the best thing ever! It was a 4 wheeler with a fiberglass pick up body on it. It was just their size!
By Martial Law! This turned out to be the days favorite driver because it was a girl! Micah even told me he thought I should drive a monster truck because if she can do it, I could! Bless his heart.
Passing the time before it starts! Stinkers.

Their favorite - Martial Law catching some air!
Monkey-n-Around. He was a crazy man and a lot of fun to watch. He did however "Monkey Around" a bit to much and ran into the lift and popped a tire so he was done until Xtreme Eagle started on fire and didn't need his tires anymore and loaned him one!
Micah and his daddy enjoying the show
Head to head - Martial Law WON!
This was Micah Schliemann. He races sprint cars too so we have seen him racing many times. Our "Micah" was super excited as he likes him alot! Funny thing is that hearing his name at the races is where we first picked out our Micah's name.
It was a great afternoon with the boys. I think they were both tuckered out but also so wound up they couldn't stop talking all the way home! Hopefully we will be able to do something like it again soon.

Tuesday, January 24th, Micah started swimming lessons again. If you remember, he took them last summer, but struggled a bit with his confidence in the water. I felt it was best to get him right back on the horse so we signed him up again this winter for the same Level 1. He has done a complete 180 and is LOVING it. He is taking them with his buddies, Josiah and Jordyn (JoJo). Micah and I had a long talk before this started and I asked him if he thought he could be the "brave" one this time since Chase was brave for him last time. He said he yes and he has been doing great. He is even putting his whole head under the water and jumping off the side without assistance! After he does something he will look up with the beaming smile that melts your heart. He is so eager to please and loves loves loves to receive praise from us. Amazing how a simple thumbs up can make a little boys heart pop out of his chest! He was surprised on Thursday because his daddy came to watch! He actually worked in town and was able to come. Micah had no idea so it was super exciting for him to show off all his newly learned tricks to dad. We will be gone for the last 3 lessons so Susan (bless her heart) is taking him for us. I am guessing he might be jumping off the board one of those days, so I don't know if he will do it or not. Last time I had to really really talk him into it and he did it the one time and not the other. I suppose it just depends on the day. I asked him to do it and have Susan video tape it for us so we can see it while we are in Guatemala and he said he could do that. We will see! Here are a few pictures.
Micah and Josiah getting ready to make a splash!
The three amigos.
I am not exactly sure what is going on with Micah. This was Thursday night. We got home from Swimming Lessons and he fell asleep. He has been falling asleep a lot when I pick him up. It has probably been going on for a month or so. I am guessing an earlier bed time wouldn't hurt, but on this Thursday, he fell asleep at 5:00 and slept until the next morning (6:30 AM). He was really chipper and starving since he didn't eat supper the night before. He hasn't been sick or anything, but sure has been tuckered out. We are going to try a few things and see if it helps, but I guess we are just chalking it up to a growth spurt!
Hope you are all having a great weekend. We didn't do much today. It was beautiful today! So nice in fact, Craig took Micah to the park! Not to many years can you say you went to the park on February 7th and didn't have 2 feet of snow! Sounds like Nebraska is getting enough snow for all of us! I saw a post by Uncle Corey that Lincoln had 15" - wowzers! All I have to say is, sure glad that isn't us! Tee Hee.. Sorry guys, I know you will have your chance to chuckle at us soon enough! Love you all!
