Christmas Time..

First things first.. I am alive and doing well. Things have been crazy as has been the case for most of you. I find myself appologizing again for the lack of posts. I will be doing some catch up today, so bare with me! We had numerous Christmas celebrations with family which was wonderful!! I will do my best to give you all a run down of the past month or better. After this dreaded long posting process, I dedicate myself to keeping up on this blog. I detest trying to play catch up and I kick myself everytime I do this!!! So, please don't give up on me and keep coming back to read more about the Life of the Nelson Family!! It will be an exciting year I have no doubt!!

We were able to make A Day With Santa at the local armory. Micah had a blast playing games, making crafts and of course getting to sit on Santa's lap. I convinced his daddy he should come with us so we could do this as a family and he agreed. I was afraid Micah was going to be frightened of Santa this year but seemed to be ready for it. As we were standing in line, he was excited and ready. As our time approached, he was still smiles and as we walked up to him, he politely waved and said, "Hi Santa" and quickly tried to walk on by. Daddy promptly took him and sat him on Santa's lap. I figured this would be the end of the smiles but no, Micah began having a full conversation with Santa! He explained how he wanted presents and that yes indeedy he had been a good boy. He showed Santa his little dinosaur he received for playing a game and that his name was Rex as in Tyrannosaurus Rex. We eventually had to go get Micah and tell him it was the next childs turn to talk to Santa. I guess you can say it was a successful visit with Santa. Here is a picture of Santa and Micah in deep conversation!

The evening of the 13th we went to Hurley to our neice, Cameryn's 2nd birthday party. Micah and Cam have become buds and rivals all the same. Being so close in age, they play great together on minute and not so much the next. When they are apart they each ask about the other and can't wait to see them the next time. Micah is always very excited to see "his Cameryn!" Here are a few pictures of her birthday party.

We were supposed to have a family Christmas in Alcester, but due to having a blizzard we were unable to make it. Fortuantely we planned ahead and had given our presents to them on Saturday night worried that we might not make it.

We had Craig's parents arrive for the weekend. We had discussed with them earlier in the week that the forecast did not look good for Saturday so if they were going to come up for our family Christmas, they should consider arriving on Friday night. They decided to do just that.

WHEW, I am so glad they came Friday because Saturday's weather was as expected - A BLIZZARD. We had everyone over to our house for dinner (well almost everyone). Poor Declan had the flu so he stayed home with Brandy. I felt so bad for the guy, but I am pretty sure he really didn't care much at the time. Sounds like he was pretty sick. We had a wonderful dinner. It was my first try at a large bone in ham. Dang, how easy was that! I just used a turkey bag and put it in the oven. Worked like a charm! Other than the meal, we had a chance to open gifts and play Wii! Yes, I bought a Wii for our household. We tried it at Cameryn's birthday party for the first time and I decided at that point, we were going to buy one! So, I did just that and I believe we are getting our money's worth. Anyway, the entire family was able to try it, even grandma and grandpa!! It was a wonderful Christmas and it was nice to get the chance to spend time with everyone. Here are a few pictures..

Fun fun times!!!
Great pics.

That is too bad Declan got the flu.
Derek got the flu Monday night right before we were to leave on Wednesday for Christmas. We wondered if we would even be able to go out of town. We debated about staying home...not wanting get anyone else sick and not wanting to stay home as it was Christmas. Megan kept saying we have to go mom...its Christmas.
Fortunatley no one else caught the flu...no one at my parents home either.

Derek keeps wanting a WII. From the looks of all the fun you were having....I will have to consider it. Maybe next years Christmas!

What great family time! Micah did great with Santa!! My kids would have screamed at that age. Pajama Day sounds like fun, I love his little slippers!! Isn't the Wii so fun??? We love ours, it really has been great family time and it's not just sitting on the couch either. You actually have to get up and move!
