Grandma and Grandpa!!!

Ok, first of all, I have tried to write/post twice and it has deleted it both times! Ughh..

We have been keeping ourselves out of trouble as always. I am a little behind on my posting so hang in there as this might be a windy one!

On Friday, September 24th, Jenny and Mike flew into Omaha from Vegas. They drove up to spend the weekend with us! Ryan+family and us met them in Sioux Falls on Friday night to eat at Valentino's which is a family favorite! We had a great supper and then we went our separate ways. Conveniently there was Halloween store across the store from Val's that we decided we should stop at. Micah refers to it as the scary store! We walked around for a while and I think Micah walked out of there more confused on what he wanted to be than when we walked in! He had been telling me he wanted to be the blue man with the 2 pokey things on his head that build things and has a light. I thought he meant a toy he was playing with at daycare because he kept telling me he saw it in Les's room. Well, I finally remembered one day to ask him to show me this "toy" and quickly realized he meant a Cartoon he had been watching on TV. I knew the show wouldn't be on while I was standing there so we proceeded to get back into the car. On the way home, I was trying to think of any character that was blue, with 2 pokey things on his head. Yeah, I had nothing! Finally, he blurts out, "Oh mom, I know who it is, it's Batman!" Oh my gosh, I could not stop laughing. I explained that the two pokey things on his head were ears and he goes, "ohhhhhhhhh" like it all made perfect sense after that! To cute! I think that idea has since passed, but it made for a cute story.

Ok, back to the weekend adventure with Grandma and Grandpa. Saturday morning we went downtown for the local Dakota State University Homecoming parade. We could not have asked for better weather, it was beautiful!!

Mr. Micah geared up for the parade!
My man!
Loves of my life!
Micah with Declan and Ebeni. I love this picture!
Micah's favorite part of the parade, except the candy of course! He loves the marching bands, specifically the drummers!!
Bailey, Briana, Micah and Chase waving to the people in the parade or do you call that begging for candy?
After the parade, we headed over the Ryan and Brandy's house for dinner and to simply hang out. Everyone of course were spoiled by Grandma and Grandpa with presents.

Micah with his new shirt, book and Zhu Zhu toy! Can we say happy camper?
After dinner Brandy and I were able to take Jenny and Mike's rental car for a spin! I know I would love to have one someday and Brandy feels the same way. They are just cute and fun!
It's was a Mini Cooper!!
Here we are with the car! It was a lot of fun!
After taking the car for a spin, the ladies went shopping at the pawn shop and flea market in town. I honestly forget about those stores until I go in there with someone else! I scored a couple of good deals so I was happy! After the shopping adventure, Jenny and I went back to our house for a while. Craig was there and Micah was taking a nap so we had the opportunity to visit with her a little. We prepared supper for everyone that evening and it was delicious! I will say my favorite thing by far was Brandy's Guacamole! Yum Yum! After supper we managed to play some Wii, visit and enjoy dessert! It was a great time!
Micah with his Grandpa Mike!
Sunday morning we all gathered our church, Living Hope and enjoyed service as a family. It was a great way to start off the day together!! After church we grilled burgers and hot dogs and the best part was the kids had a picnic outside. The kiddos had a chance to play dress up before we had to take off to SF for the afternoon.
Pirate Declan & Dr. Elijah
Sunday afternoon we headed to Kids Against Hunger. Ryan and Brandy's church had set up a time for a group of them to go down and help package meals for kids who were in need. This was a great experience for everyone and I think it is very important for Micah to be raised knowing there are people out there who are less fortunate than him. It is important to be thankful for what you have but be able to turn around help others. He seemed to really enjoy himself as he was helping pound the packages flat, colored the boxes, helped me scrap my scoop level before dumping it into the package. It was all in all a very humbling experience and I am grateful we had the opportunity to do it as a family.

Declan taping the cases closed!Jenny happy to help!!
We finished up at about 4:30 and decided to take advantage of the beautiful weather and head over to the falls. We thought with all the rain and how high the Big Sioux was, they would be high and they were. I enjoyed being outside and watching Micah run all over creation. He of course scared the pants off us a few times, but boys will be boys! We all took this opportunity to get some good pictures and here are a few!

Micah taking a break..
We ended our evening by going out to eat at Texas Roadhouse. I think everyone enjoyed their meals. Micah ate to much fresh bread and Cinnamon butter so he didn't even touch his mac n cheese! I only ordered a 1/2 order and no sides, but still it felt like a waste. I just can't win with him and his food. If I wouldn't have ordered him anything, he would have been starving and wanted something. Kids! After supper we said our good byes to Jenny and Mike. Micah was sad to see them go and he has been asking ever since if we could see them again soon! We will have to do a few web cams here shortly to keep him happy Jenny!
That was our weekend with Grandma and Grandpa. Everyone had a great time and we were so happy to have them here! Looking forward to the next visit!!
