Cupcake, friends, name

Happy Thursday everyone! Wow, the change in weather around here surely isn't appreciated! Yesterday the wind was absolutely nuts! There were a few times I seriously thought I was going to have to climb over and get out of my vehicle on the passenger side as I could barely get my door open! It was a day to hang on tight to your little ones as you walked outside as they could have flown away in a flash and ended up 3 states over! Thankfully today is less windy, not quite as warm as we would like as my thermostat says 28 degrees outside! Icky.. I suppose we better buck up and get used to it!

Last weekend was packed full of fun! Friday night Micah and I made our best attempt at vampire cupcakes. There is no doubt about it, I am not a creative genius but fortunately for me, a 4 year old is pretty easy to please! The colors of the frosting are not great but that is because I didn't have any paste to color the frosting with and we used food coloring. As you know, getting dark colors with food coloring is not really a possibility so we made do with what we had. He was very excited and happy with the cupcakes so I guess in the book of Mom that is all that matters! We had a great time and we even convinced Craig to help us frost the cupcakes!

Micah's job was to put on the fangs! (AKA Candy Corn)
Our cupcakes.. I personally think it looks like a bad version of George Washington! Haa. Micah's comment about them wash "They are just like I wanted!!" Gotta love that boy!
Saturday afternoon Chase and Briana arrived. They were going to stay over at our house and this was Micah's very first time having friends sleep over! He was beyond excited when we told him the news. We had Briana stay in the extra bedroom and Chase shacked up with Micah. Micah was a little puzzled by the fact that Briana was sleeping in "Grandma and Grandpa's" room! The only people that have stayed over are Craig's folks, Harlan and Sandy.

After they arrived we played a little bit of Wii and then we ate supper. Spaghetti was Chase's request and I think it was a hit. After we ate, we headed out to the movie theatre and watch "Legend of the Guardian" which is a new movie about owls. It was cute, but the boys got bored about 1/2 way through and we had to work at keeping them occupied and quiet! It was def. a movie we could have waited to see until it came out on DVD but I think the kids had fun anyway.
Picture of the boys before they went to sleep. Actually I should say - before Chase went to sleep. Micah was up way longer and had a really hard time unwinding.
Sunday morning Micah woke up at 7:15 thirsty so he decided everyone in the house needed to get up. He woke up Chase, Briana and us! We were planning on going to church anyway so it wasn't a huge deal. It actually worked out because it gave us more time to get ready and hang out a little before heading out.

After church we came home and played (can you guess???) yep, Wii. We had a new game, Mario Galaxy that we really hadn't figured out. Micah was a little young for it as you needed to be able to read to know what is going on. Briana did really well with it and figured it out rather quickly so it went home with her! Micah wasn't very happy about that but he got over it and decided it was ok.
Here they are after church. Micah's mask is something they made at Sunday school. They both had so much fun with those masks!!
Briana playing gator golf!

After Chase and Briana went home, Micah took a quick nap. Then he went to Cohen's birthday party. Sounds like he had a blast and enjoyed playing with all the boys! He was tuckered out by the time evening hit so we lounged around most of the night.
Monday night Craig had pool which did not go very well! He wasn't very happy with how he did.
Micah and I went to the library for story time. It has turned into a wonderful opportunity for me to visit with some of the other mom's. I don't get that opportunity very often so it was wonderful.
Tuesday night was a repeat of last week. I worked out and when I got home Craig ran out the door and went to the church to work. Micah and I had a good time hanging out. He got a new seek and find book from the library and he loves it. I was surprised because a few times, I couldn't find the picture and he got it right away!!
Last night we had soccer again. He had a lot of fun and he learned a new skill! He was proud of himself for being able to kick the ball and have it leave the ground! He has never been able to do that before so for him to be able to kick the soccer ball in the air was great! He was beaming from ear to ear as he was so happy! After soccer he decided he wanted to color and before I knew it he told me he wanted to write his name. I told him, "Go ahead, you know your letters", of course I was waiting for him to whine and tell me he needed help, but he surprised me, he did it!!! I have a video of it, but of course I am having a hard time uploading it. I will keep trying. While writing his name, he had a revelation! He said to me, "MOM, C & See rhyme!" I said, "No Micah they don't rhyme, they match." He argued a little bit but finally I just said, "Micah, they match a rhyme is....." (I paused because for the life of me I couldn't think of a good example). In the time I paused, he looks at me and says, "Mom, a rhyme is cat / hat!" What a stinker, he was playing me all along.
Poor Micah has a pretty good cold. He has had a red itchy eye for a couple of days on top of it. This morning Craig said they were matted shut so we are going to the eye doctor at 12:30 today to get them checked out. I know how miserable it is to have itchy eyes so if we can get him some drops or something to relieve that itch, I am game. He has his first preschool program today at 10:45 which he is super excited about! I will admit, I am excited too as I love watching the little ones perform, it warms my heart!
I am sure the next post will be full of pictures as my favorite holiday is coming up - HALLOWEEN!
Hope you have a great weekend!
