We had an amazing weekend packed full of fun, friends and Halloween! Micah was beside himself excited that it was trick or treating time! He has been waiting many months to be able to wear his costume! He has known for quite a while who he wanted to dress up as. I tried to convince him to be something else, but I lost that discussion. I have to admit, I think he knew all along he would be adorable as Mario!
Friday from 4 to 6 the downtown businesses host trick or treating. It is a great opportunity for the kids to get and about with their costumes! It is great for everyone to get to see each other and just have a great time while seeing the excitement of the kiddos!
Super Mario!
Mr. Mario....
Micah and Bailey before retail trick or treat.
Ms. Miranda ready to get some candy!!
Micah found his fellow friends while walking on the streets of Madison! As he told his daddy, "Mario saved Princess Peach and found his Yoshi!!" He talked about seeing Princess Peach (Claire) and Yoshi (Jack) all night!! I think it made his entire weekend!
After our early evening adventures, we ate supper and then it was time to carve pumpkins! Craig was off working so it was left up to Micah and I this year. I let Micah pick what he wanted to carve on them this year and we went to town. While I was "gutting" the pumpkins, he was standing there saying, "Ewe, gross, ewe!" I did manage to get him to touch the guts, but that was all he was doing. It was a one finger poke at the stuff and he was good! He had a great time and I loved having the mommy/son time! Micah and our finished product!
Saturday morning I ran to SF for groceries with Dana. Sounds like Micah and Craig did honey do's around the house while I was gone. For the first time, I made homemade guacamole! It was delicious! Thank you Brandy for the recipe! Saturday late afternoon/evening, Micah had a friend over to play for a few hours. Cole is our friends Rod and Chris's 2nd child and they are in preschool together. He was so excited when I told him Cole was coming for a play date! They played the entire time (3 hrs)! I really didn't even see them that much as they were in Micah's room playing. Once in a while they would come out to the living room and play but they were so involved, it was as if I didn't exist. After playing a while, we ate supper and everyone seemed happy with tacos which was a good deal! Hopefully they can get together again soon!
Cole and Micah
Sunday we missed church due to sleeping through our alarms. Opps.. We spent the afternoon mowing, trimming and just getting some outside stuff done. Micah played outside for a little while but he thought it was to cold. Ha.. My comment to him was, "Oh son of mine, you have no idea. Wait a month and then you will know what cold is!" After that he took a nap in anticipation of the nights activities! We left the house shortly after 5:00 and didn't return until 8:00 or so! Micah had so much fun and I will admit, Craig and I did too!! Ethel and Fred
AKA Tess & Craig
Fred gained a few pounds overnight!!
This is Micah and his loot! I think he got enough candy to last a year + some! We went to the college and walked around the 4 dorms. We hit a few houses and then it was off to Bethel Lutheran Home. This was our first time swinging by here. What a busy place that was!! It was great to see all the residents having so much fun handing out candy to the little ones. Micah really enjoyed saying Happy Halloween or Trick or Treat to everyone!! When we got into the car, he was saying, 'Thank you, Thank you, Thank you" over and over and over. I am not sure if he was trying to tell me we should get a recorder for his voice so he doesn't have keep repeating himself or what! :0 After that we headed over to the truck or treat at West Center Baptist Church. This year they combined forces with our church and I would say that helped make it a huge success! I was pleasantly surprised at the turn out and the amount of cars. They also had hay rides which we didn't do, but it was great to see such a well hosted event going on! We had a wonderful Halloween as a family! Can't wait until next year!!!!
The final picture of the evening was Micah and his loot! :-)
Golly gee.. that is some candy!!
