February 8, 2011

Well, well, well.. It is a balmy -15 degrees here today! Micah had a lesson this morning in temperature as when I pulled out of the garage my car said it was 40+ degrees! I told him to watch that number and it it would fall quickly. By the time we were 2 blocks away, it read 0! Then it started into the negatives and that threw him for a loop! He didn't understand what that meant at all. I told him, any time you have a negative symbol in front of a number it is lower than zero. He looked at me puzzled and then I said, "anything below zero is colder than cold." He agreed and said, "Like today!" Yep buddy, like today!

Things are looking up as far as the health of everyone in our house. I would say Micah is over his cold and ear infection. He took his Amoxicillin like a champ, I was very proud of him. Craig is still struggling a bit but is much better. He missed work 4 days last week and managed to push through the day at work on Friday. His fever finally broke and now it appears to be a cold more than anything. Hoping it leaves his body completely very very soon. So far, KNOCK ON WOOD, I have escaped everything. I am a realist in knowing it is a matter of time, but so far so good and each day of health is a blessing!

Last Friday we had our first Revelations study at church. We joined 4 other couples and their families for supper and then the kids went to play and hang out while the adults had our study. We are using David Jeremiah's "What in the World is Going on" as our guide. It was a good first night and we look forward to seeing how this progresses.

Saturday, Dana and I were supposed to go to SF for groceries but due to the threat of freezing rain we decided to wait until Sunday. I think that was a good choice as we ended up with additional snow and the roads wouldn't have been to much fun. We spent Saturday lounging around, it was wonderful! Saturday evening Micah and I joined Dana and the girls at the HS girls basketball game. It was a good time and I do believe they restored my faith in girls basketball. The last game I went to was disturbing and disappointing, but this one was a very positive thing. They played very well and there is some potential to advance. Time will tell I suppose. Micah was most excited about getting to meet the Madison Bulldog!! The girl in the bulldog is a girl from our church so he thought it was super cool to know who was inside! Of course, it was our little secret!

Sunday we attended church and then D and I went to SF. The roads were good but the crowd was ridiculous. Some days I wonder why we put ourselves through that ordeal, honestly, it is crazy. While I was gone, Craig blew the driveway out and Micah played outside. He loved every minute of it and he actually convinced his daddy to help dig a tunnel!! I have a hunch dad didn't want to but how can you say no to such a cute little boy pleading, "Please dad, please!" Here are a few pictures.

I returned home to a quiet household as the boys were napping. I debated about curling up and taking a nap myself, but instead I started supper of Ribs and red potatoes w/ ranch seasoning. When the boys woke up, it was time to eat and park our butts in front of the TV for the super bowl. We actually DVR'ed the game so we could fast forward through the slow parts. It worked out pretty well! Our household of course had our favorite commericals! They were somewhat disappointing this year, but we did find a few favorites! My favorite was the Doritos's commerical where the guy licks the finger of his co-worker. It cracks me up every time I think about it! Gross as it is, it was hilarious because it was so unexpected! I totally thought he was going to lick the inside of the bag or something, never seeing the finger lick coming! Craig's favorite commercial was the Volkswagen commercial with little Darth Vader. His immediate comment when we watched it was "That's what dad's are for!" Micah's favorite was the Bridgstone Tire commerical with the beaver. He is still talking about it and repeating the beaver bump. The game itself was a good game I thought. I will admit, I was happy the Packers won. I was happy for Rodgers, he earned it and he was able to remove the cloud over his head called "Favre" by winning that game.
Last night Craig had pool league. He wasn't real excited about playing but he went anyway. Before he left I told him he would probably do really well because he had that I don't care attitude. Well, he got a ERO/10 Zip! Quick explaination, the other player broke and didn't drop any balls so it was Craig's turn. He walked up to the table and ran all his balls out including the 8 ball. He was pretty pumped when he came home! I don't see him smile a wide toothy grin very often, but last night was one of those nights! While Craig was at pool, Micah and I went to the library for storytime. He is all about the Berenstain Bears right now. He really likes the book about strangers. I like the fact those books have a lesson to them, so allows us to have converstations about various things. After the library, we came home and I watched the Boys basketball game on the computer while Micah watched Cars. He picked out his PJ's and put them on too. Silly boy...
Think someone is ready for summer?? :-)
