Craze, Racing, Running & Friends!

Thursday, May 12th, the ladies and I attended Madison's 1st quarter craze in support of Lake County's relay for life. I smile thinking about it because we really had no idea what we were getting ourselves into! I had stumbled across the information on Facebook and decided to ask some of the ladies if they wanted to try it out and they said yes! What a fabulous event it was, we had a good time and I would definitely do it again!! I am sure the fact that I won 4 different times doesn't hurt! Next time however they better be ready, we will be buying more than one number to increase our odds!

Friday the 13th, I had lunch that day with Erin at Mochavino! It was awesome to get to visit with her face to face. After many years of being blogging buddies and the fact that we have started attending the same church and were baptized on the same day warranted a face to face lunch! It was wonderful and hopefully we will be doing it again sometime soon!

Craig headed to Brookings to meet up his friends from high school Shane and Adam on Friday night. Shane was running in the Brookings Marathon on Saturday so it was a good opportunity for them to catch up. Micah and I were originally going to take along, but decided that we would stay back so daddy would have adequate time to visit without a 4 yr old getting bored and pestering him that he wanted to leave! Turns out Craig really enjoyed their visit and the best thing is Shane ran his personal best time in a marathon! (Just under 4 hrs). While Craig was there, Micah and I decided to run to McDonald's with Marsha, Chase and Briana. They had a good time as well. It was a win win situation for all of us! I do enjoy seeing Craig return from spending time with his friends from years past because he has a bit of a glow about him. He really enjoys reconnecting with them all and boy, are they good people!

Saturday the 14th, Dana and I ran to SF to get groceries and when we got back, we went out to Chris's place for a pampered chef party. Of course I found a few things I just couldn't live without!

Sunday we went to church and then it was time to mow the yard (again). We hurried through it as Craig had received a phone call from Pastor Tim and they were heading to the races at Husets! Micah was a very upset little boy when he found out that daddy was going without him. A plan was quickly developed for us to ride with Marsha and the kids. It didn't end up being a great night for Matt, but Micah had a blast anyway. On the way home, Marsha was pulled over for a headlight out. She is somewhat of a cop magnet, it was funny that she was pulled over because we were talking about it earlier in the night. Sadly, we were stopped right by an apartment complex where a fight broke out between a man and a woman in the apartment. It was a really sad situation because there were kids in that apartment witnessing it. I actually stepped out of the car and pointed at the apartment so Marsha could alert the police officer. In the end it helped Marsha because he let her go because he needed to make a visit to the apartment. On May 19th, I took Micah to the summer reading program celebration at Library park. They have inflatables, games, face painting and more for the kids. It is actually a little social gathering for kiddo and Micah had a blast!

Craig took Micah and I up to the DSU football field. He was working up there earlier in the day and noticed baby birds in a nest. He thought Micah would like to see them so up in the lift we went! It was awesome to see such little birds, we didn't stay long as we were interrupting dinner and momma wasn't impressed with us being there. After a little bird watching, Micah wanted to run on the track a little bit. The first lap we ran as a family but we quickly realized mom and dad are out of shape! Micah didn't want to stop so he ran another one all by himself! 1/2 mile run for a little boy, I thought that was pretty impressive.

Here he is running a sprint! Craig and Micah running their little hearts out!Finishing strong!!
Baby Birds, so cute their ugly!

Saturday, May 21st we traveled to DeSmet to see our friend, Lori and her kids. Her parents live on a farm there and Micah was super excited to see all the animals! We had beautiful weather and Micah had a ball! Thank you Lori for inviting us up, it was great to see you!!

Micah and a baby kitty!

Micah and JJ petting a lamb (who wasn't impressed!)

Tractor rides for everyone! Micah loved this part!! Then Grandpa Larry broke out his new toy! You know this was a huge hit with Micah!!
We decided to go highway 81 on the way home and this is what it looked like. They have since closed it to cars, but trucks are still being allowed to drive on it.

Saturday evening Lori, Sue and I went to a surprise 50th birthday party for Julie. She was very surprised and it was nice to visit with Lori and Sue! Julie and her husband were Craig and my marriage mentors prior to our wedding. After the party Lori headed back to DeSmet while Sue, Dana and I headed down to Stadium.

As always - ta ta for now!
