Kingswood - Circus - Elijah & Roof

On Thursday Dana and I headed to Sioux Falls for the Kingswood rummage sales. We figured our luck would be limited since larger kids clothes are hard to come by. We did find a few bargains but a lot of stuff was junk. Micah ended up with a few DS games, a batting helmet and his new prize possession, $.25 flip flops! He was very excited about my finds so that made the whole day worth it! We did have some problems that day unfortunately. Craig's truck was backed into by a lady backing out of her driveway. Admittedly, I wasn't parked in the best spot so that didn't help the situation. The lady was not happy and quickly became unhinged about the situation. I did my best to stay calm and not engage her at all while waiting for the police to get there. While were being verbally attacked by this lady, I happened to look down and I saw my sweatshirt. It was my Living Hope Wesleyan sweatshirt that reads "Welcome Home" on the front. I quickly thought of the verse on the back, "Live Well, Love Much" and thought, thank you Lord for the reminder! It was a pretty miserable situation but we were able to handle it with grace and dignity and for that I am thankful. I did end up getting one phone call from the not so friendly husband a few days later, but that was very short lived as I simply hung up on him. The best news I had about this was on Monday when their insurance adjuster came and wrote us a check to close the claim!

Here is a picture of Craig's truck.
Friday night we had bible study at church which was well needed! We had a game night where we shared many laughs and just enjoyed each others company. On the way home, Micah asked his daddy if he could drive and daddy said yes. He said to his dad, "You run the knobs and levers and I will steer!" I guess that is on Toy Story somewhere! Here is a picture of him driving us home. Surprisingly he did a good job!

Saturday we headed to the Elriad Shrine Circus for a day of fun and relaxation! It was a great day and Micah had a blast! His favorite part was he got a new light saber and it was GREEN like Yodas! He hasn't let that thing out of his sight since! There was one part of the show where a clown is pretending to wind up his stuffed animals. He had one "stuffed" elephant that he would wind up and it would walk for a while then it would fall over. Well, the clown got a little crazy with the winding and he broke it! The clown was so sad about his toy being broken that he was crying and shooting tears up into the crowd. I looked over at Micah and he had silent tears running down his cheeks. I asked him what was wrong and he said, "He broke his toy and is so sad!" I wrapped Micah up in a hug and told him I loved him for his big heart! Shortly after, the clown revealed that the "stuffed" elephant was actually a real puppy dressed up in an elephant costume! Oh did Micah laugh and laugh but he was also really happy the clown wasn't sad anymore!

Our happy little boy!

Watching the show!

Bo the talented Elephant
This was one of Micah's favorite parts of the circus! Hard to tell who it is, but it is a guy who did tricks on his BMX bike!
The guy after his tricks!
Hands down this was Micah's favorite! This guy did lots of cool jumps with dazzling moves as he was flying through the air! Micah was cheering and screaming as he was doing his high flying act! It was fun to see his excitement!

This is Micah and daddy dueling when we got home. Micah was pretending to be Yoda and Daddy had to be the bad guy! Micah had just watched one of the Star War movies where Yoda was actually fighting and he got the biggest kick out of it. He thought it was funny that the old man was so good at fighting! It had tried to tell him Yoda was the old wise one and the best fighter but he didn't believe me until he saw it with his own eyes!

Monday night Micah and I went to watch Elijah's 5th grade school band/chorus concert. They all did a great job and we couldn't be more proud of her. Micah's favorite characters were the ducks. He laughed and giggled everytime the ducks did anything because he thought they were so funny looking with the bills on their faces! After the show the girls were nice enough to take a picture with him! He wants me to print it out so he can hang it up in his room.

Cora, Elijah and Micah after the show. Elijah was Cinderella and did a fabulous job!

Today we spent the day helping Craig with the chimney. His goal was to take the chimney down to right above our living room ceiling. Micah agreed he would play on his own outside while I helped Craig get the bricks into the trailer. It was really nice to be able to have him old enough to be on his own for a while! Craig built us a slide for the bricks, it was so nice and it saved us a lot of clean up had we thrown them down. They would have exploded into pieces and the clean up would have been lengthy!

It wasn't to long and this is what we had up on the roof! Yes, Micah decided he wanted to come up with us and check it out. He had been climbing the ladder by himself but could only get about 1/2 way up. He was going up and down getting braver each time. Craig had to go down and empty buckets and Micah decided he wanted to come up as long as daddy was behind him on the ladder. He said he knew then that if he slipped daddy would catch him!

Proud little man! He commented, "I can see everything up here!"

Another project complete!

Holding Mom's hand is always comforting!

After working on the roof it was lunch time. We had a picnic outside as we were all to dirty to be sitting in the house! Micah then decided we needed to go for a bike ride. Craig continued working while Micah and I went for a ride. We didn't go very far, but it was far enough for him to be a very happy little boy! We got home, had a snack and this is what followed!

He woke up and said, "All that working made me tired, I could hardly keep my eyes open!" He is quite the kid I tell ya.

Happy Mother's Day to all the mom's out there! It is a our special day to celebrate our children and the love they bring to our lives! Have a great day and enjoy every minute!
