Micah's 5th Birthday!

On Saturday, July 16th we had Micah's 5th Birthday party. Micah's choice for a theme was Star Wars. Friday evening we spent preparing for the party and I made a little buddy for him, R2D2! I saw it online and thought, hummm..I can do that.

The party started with food of course! We decided to do a taco bar this year and it worked out really well. While prepping the food, I thought we would have tacos coming out of our ears but when it came down to it, I should have made more!

We gave Micah his big birthday present a few days early so he could enjoy it for a while before he had to share it! This year we bought him a trampoline! He absolutely loves it and has actually gotten pretty good on it! It was a huge hit at the party and the best part was the enjoyed it with no accidents!

Happy Birthday to Micah!

Mommy got him!

The kiddo population patiently waiting for their turn on the trampoline.

Cam enjoying her cake! If you can't tell it was a very HOT day!

Elijah, growing up right before our eyes!Mom and dad cutting the birthday boys cake!

Josiah's parents, Susan and Todd

Grandpa Harlan and Grandma Sandy!

Oh for presents, Micah was super excited about them all!

The present opening took place outside where it was a little cooler!

Let the light saber battles begin! These were a huge hit with all the kids. I took a swimming noodle, cut them in half and taped the ends with duct tape and black electrical tape to make it look like a handle. I had no idea how much fun they would have with them! The only down side was that they did hurt if you hit someone to hard. Ouch....

Total Star Wars mayhem at the Nelson's

After the light saber battles we busted out the water balloons to cool everyone off. They are always a big hit and the kids seem to get a kick out of it. I am not sure if we can ever fill enough balloons for those kids! After the balloons, we busted out the sprinkler. It was a great way to cool the kiddos off.

After the party Micah decided it was time to try out some of his new toys! This is a Wii light saber. He loves it and it can substitute for a tennis racket!

We had to bust out the Blizzard maker. He loves it!

Micah's birthday party went off without a hitch and we are so blessed to have such wonderful friends and family. To see everyone come and take part in celebrating his birthday is so amazing. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for everything.

I don't know what the future plans will be for his parties. We have had a large party every year and I have a feeling that will change as he is getting older and is gearing more towards friends parties. I am thinking Craig and I will try to have a Nelson summer bash as we love getting everyone together and it seems as if we don't do it nearly enough. I guess time will tell how this all pans out, but expect some changes in the years to come.
