Today we begin our 2nd trip to Guatemala! Back up a few months and I will explain how we ended up sitting in the Dallas/Fort Worth airport waiting for our destination flight to Guatemala. We walked into a meeting at church for the upcoming Freeze Your Fanny Fun Run with every intention of helping the 2013 team and supporting them on their journey. We sat through the meeting and afterwards we sat and visited with Mr. Chad Larson. We "discussed" us going and that it wasn't to late for us to make the decision to do so but that was all it was, a discussion. We sat on it for a few days and then Craig came home and said, "We need to go, I don't know why, but I know that we are supposed to go." I said I was half a dozen one way and half a dozen the other so he needed to make the decision. He said, "We are going." I said, "Whoa, wait a minute, we should sleep on it, I'm not so sure!" The next day I thought about it and I still wasn't sure, but when I came home and asked Craig what he was thinking, he said, "I feel the nudge to go and I think we should do it." I was in disbelief really, I assumed after he thought about it his practical self would prevail and he would say the nudge went away and we weren't going. Wasn't I the fool! So, here we are, sitting in the airport in Texas waiting for our connection to Guatemala! Micah is safely at the Steuerwald's for the week and we are on our way to see our forever friends from Guatemala and Casa Angelina Orphanage. My anxiety this time has been much higher largely due to not being nudged myself to go. Hands down, this trip is Craig's trip which is a complete roll reversal from last year. He even stated last year he would never go again! Ha - and people say God doesn't have a sense of humor! Eat your words Mr. Nelson, eat your words.
I am excited to see how God works through our hands, feet and hearts this week while we serve him ever so faithfully. I am exhausted and uneasy but steadfast in my faith in his plan. As I sit and watch my husband study for a test that he has been putting off for over 10 years, I say Thank You to the big man upstairs. He is guiding us along this journey and we wait for what lies ahead.
I will try to update often about our journey, but as always, it will depend on if we have Internet service at the hotel.
Love you all and please keep our entire team in your prayers. There is some illness, fatigue and frustration but we know God's got our back so we will all be ready to rock his plan this upcoming week!
Sunrise from the airplane this morning.
Just another symbol of his greatness!
