1st grade baby! Micah began school on September 4th. He had been anxiously awaiting the beginning of this school year. He tells me he LOVES school and learning (I am documenting this for future leverage!). He had some anxiety about who his teacher was going to be and if any of his friends would be in his classroom this year. Normally we don't find out until the day before school starts so to find out a few days early was nice! He was going to have Mrs. Morse and a classroom full of buddies. He (and mom) were very pleased with the outcome. This year is the year they really start looking at their reading abilities and where they are in their developmental abilities. He really seems to have a good grasp of reading and his schooling in general but it will be nice to see what the teachers have to say after the evaluations and such. At this time I don't have any concerns really but we will see!
Micah on September 3rd on our way to open house! He had school pictures as well. He picked out this shirt because I like it. Bless his heart.
Sitting at his desk! He had a bingo game to complete around the room so he would get familiar.
Micah and Mrs. Morse! She was super nice and totally put Micah and mom at ease.
First day of school picture!! I can't believe he is 7 and in 1st grade. It is so fun to watch him grow.

We always take Micah to school the first day as a family. It is something we have done since preschool. He seems to look forward to it and I know we do too. Craig asked me how many more years we were going to both take him? I said "until he graduates high school if I have my way!" We had a good laugh envisioning us tagging along his first day of middle school or high school. I think we decided we would a long as he was ok with it. Hopefully a few more years.
We are also trying something new this year after school. Micah and Chase are riding the private transit bus to our house. This bus delivers them right to our house and waits to ensure they get up the house which is huge! We pay $2.00 per day but it is so worth the $10.00 per week to know they have eyes on them. They arrive at our house and have about 30 minutes before I get off work. They have strict instructions as far as lock the door, immediately FaceTime me so I know they are safe etc. It has been going well other than one day they managed to lock themselves out of the house after the fact. Micah was heading to the garage to get lemonades but the garage door was locked (as always) and Chase ended up following Micah outside and shutting the house door. Well our doors you can open from the inside even if try are locked and Chase don't realize it. Oops! Well they were troopers and I was proud of them. They actually stayed on the back step until I got home. Which was a matter of minutes but they didn't panic or go play on the trampoline. They just hung out and didn't freak out. Micah know nows exactly what to do if that happens again. :) Thankfully that happens when it was nice outside and not the dead of winter! Otherwise it has gone well and the boys seem to be thriving with being more responsible and "grown up". Our little secret is "we" meaning moms (Marsha and I) were really nervous the first day so we recruited a spy to sit a block away and watch the process and make sure they made it in the house safe and sound. (Spy was Craig lol). He called and assured is that they made it safe and sound. Whew!
So far Micah is loving school and he talks for hours about recess! He loves playing football and basketball with his buddies which is new this year. It sounds like in kindergarten they weren't allowed to have balls on the playground. He enjoys his classroom and he has managed to stay on task and is bringing positive work so far. He has been reading books like crazy and I hope that continues for a long time coming!
I can't wait to see what this year brings!
