It is a wonderful day to blog if I do say so myself. As you know, I have been on a healthy hiatus from blogging. I have thought a lot about blogging and have realized that I blog for me and my happiness. I enjoy writing and it is a place for me to clear my head of all the crazy mumbo jumbo that bounces around in there. I was recently reminded that this is MY blog and it is a choice for me to write it and it is also a choice for you to read it. So, there might be a shift in content on here from our daily happenings to more of a random topic/thought blog. I don't really know where it is going to go, but I do know that I am not going to be so concerned with making it perfect. I am going to just let the thoughts flow so basically it it will be a like it or leave it type thing.
Let's talk...
Those of you that know me, this isn't news to you, I love my boys! C & M are my world and they are what my world revolves around most of the time. I like it that way because my job as a wife and mother is my priority. Realistically, sometimes that isn't how it is because I am human and life gets in the way but I try, I really try. We do almost everything together and that is how I want it to be. However, some people see that as strange, weird or just not right but I ask, since when? When did the standard of family change so vastly that by spending time together with your children or spouse has it become abnormal? My vision of family is very simply, a family that prays and plays together stays together. Is it because we waited so long to have M? Is it because we are sticks in the mud and can't have fun anymore? I don't believe that is the case at all. I can't explain it, but it my heart I know the difference my son will make in this world by having both parents involved and dedicated to him and our family. I see his face light up when he tells me that his daddy came and watched his swimming lessons and how proud he was of him. I feel my heart soar when C passes a big test or completes a big project because we have walked the path together every step of the way. People don't understand all of our quirks but they aren't supposed too! Only we are to know how to protect, encourage and love each other in the way our family should. I know when he needs me to speak up because he isn't comfortable. It isn't anything said between us, it is a look in his eyes. I just know and I do it willingly and with love despite some people thinking I am the wife that doesn't let her husband talk. You see, I don't care, because I do it for him, my husband and that makes me happy. I love spending time visiting with family and friends, being involved in activities be it church related, volleyball or any other thing but most of all spending time with C & M makes me happy. They are and will always be my first priority in this world full of distractions. You might see that as selfish or unrealistic, but from my seat the view is crystal clear, I love my boys and they deserve my love and energy.
This is what we decided putting on our new vehicle for decals. We had to do something since there are a million of these color Suburbans around! I think it sums up this post perfectly.

OK....so I have to tell you, I read your blog and I thought to myself..."there is someone else out there like us!!" People just don't understand our family and a lot of people think we are crazy or weird or selfish. We do pretty much everything together and not many families do anymore. If there is an activity or a game we are all there. If we go to church we all go. If we go out of town to visit family we all go. Obviously there are circumstances when we have to split up if the kids have activities at the same time but that is the only time we split up. If something is going on out of town and I work we don't go, or if Jay works we wait for him to get off work and then we all go. No one understands it but it's just the way we operate. And it was so fun to get on here and read that there is another family like ours :) Jay and I ask each other all the time...."are we the strange ones?" "is there something wrong with us?" But there isn't....it's just the way we are and I wouldn't want it any other way!!
