Day 9 of Vegas

It was Thursday, May 28th our 9th and final day of vacation. We decided to head outside of the City to a little place called Bonnie Springs Ranch. The scenery was amazing out there with mountains filled with vibrant reds and browns. All I could think of was, Wow I could wake up to this every morning! Bonnie Springs a replica of a 1880's mining town. They have cowboys, cowgirls, a wedding chapel, petting zoo, restaurant and much more. We didn't go "inside" the town as we mainly went for the petting zoo, but it was a neat place. You could hear the rowdy cowboys from distance. They must have been in a saloon or something like that as you could hear music, lots of YEE HAW's and gun fire. Someone must have been a little to rowdy! :)

Upon arrival we made our way directly to the petting zoo. There was quite the variety of animals. Micah seemed to like seeing most of the animals.
Our first stop was the pond. We decided to feed these little guys. It always amazes me how when the hear change rattle in the feeder, thew swim over as fast as they can! Micah thought that was pretty cool. The turtles in there sure did like the food, but unfortunately they are just to slow, the ducks get 99.9% of the food. Poor turtles didn't have a chance!!I think these birds are so pretty! After feeding the birds we decided to walk through the zoo. We were kind of going our own way not really paying attention to each other. Micah and I were watching some rabbits when Grandma Jenny came around the corner. She said, "I have an animal following me" I said, "OH really" and I looked down at the ground thinking it was a duck or a little goat. As she walked past me, this guy came following behind her! He is an alpaca and he was super duper friendly!! (Due to the fact that he wanted us to feed him of course!) He hung around for a while and at one point scared Micah to death. Micah was looking at some rabbits being oblivious to his surrounds and Mr. Alpaca wanted to get his attention. (Actually I think he was trying to get Micah's hat!) but anyway, the Alpaca put his face right down by Micah and when he turned to see what it was, HELLO - BIG ANIMAL IN HIS FACE! Yep, you guessed it, Micah didn't care for that one bit! He cried.. Poor baby..
Mr. Alpaca had a buddy, we named him Billy of course. He was also very very friendly and after food none the less. Micah did like Billy, I can only assume because he wasn't so big!
Had to take this picture for Grandma Sandy!!
Mr. Jack A. - HEE HAW..
A Burrow. I do believe this is the first time I ever saw one.
Last but not least we have the peacocks. Golly Ms. Molly they are pretty birds and noisy! I didn't realize they were so loud! It is an understatement to say that Micah didn't realize they were so loud either! We were walking along and there was this peacock about 10' from us. Micah stopped and stared with an uncertain look. He was taking it all in when all of a sudden the peacock let out a caw, caw and you would have thought he chased Micah or something. Micah let out this high pitched little girl scream and instant tears and sobs. He was scared to death and had to be rescued by his super hero daddy! Mommy was a bad mommy and couldn't look at him because of the rolling laughter that was coming out of her mouth. I seriously couldn't help it, I know - mother of the year award is coming my way!

After that we figured we probably scarred him for life with a fear of Alpaca's and Peacocks so we thought it best to leave. If you ask Micah today if he likes Peacocks he will say, "NO, they scream and scare me and I scream like a little girl!" Hee Hee
Here is Mr. Peacock
On the way back to Las Vegas, we stopped by Red Rock Canyon. Again, it was beautiful!! We stopped at the visitor center but to our dismay it was all under construction. The center was in a temporary trailer, needless to say, we could have skipped that! It was unfortunate because I have a feeling had we been there when it was not under construction it would be quite the center. Oh well, maybe next time..

This is a picture of Red Rock Canyon We jumped back in the car and headed to Vegas. First stop, Pizza Hut! We were starving and it was time to get some grub. We had a very friendly waitress who was wonderful with Micah. I always appreciate good service, but sometimes they just go over and above what is necessary to make your stay more enjoyable. She was one of those ladies!
Our final stop for the day was..........
I have always wanted to go up in the stratosphere and this time we made it happen! It is one of those things that you just have to say you have done in your lifetime. I don't know if there would be a need to go back, but at least I can say, "I have been in the Stratosphere"

Picture of the famous Las Vegas strip! Another picture of the strip
This is the view on the other side! This picture cracks me up. Micah wasn't a big fan of sitting there by that window if you can't tell by his face. He is trying to please his mother! Haa.. He was up from that spot quicker than you could blink your eyes! Thank you Peanut, I appreciate you putting on your game face for me!

That was the end of our day.. Oh wait!!! One of the highlights of our trip!! Craig got to take Micah and I on a little cruise in this!! As Micah named it, "Grandpa Mike's Race Car!"
It is a 2007 Shelby GT500 with approx. 500 horsies under the hood. Dang, does that car sound good!!! What a machine it is, WHOOIE DOGGIE, I could get myself to having something like that sitting in our garage! I know, I know, dream on Tess, but I guess one has to have dreams right!!
Grandpa Mike in his Race Car (With a little hand pointing at it saying, "Look Mom!! LOOK!!")
That was the end of our vacation.. It was time to get things packed and ready to board our plane at the butt crack of dawn! :) We did manage to sneak in one more meal at the In-N-Out Burger. I might have to see if Jenny can somehow package some of those up and send them to us!! ;)
