House......

Wow, I really need to get on the stick when it comes to updating. It gets away from me and then I have so much to say I don't know where to start. Then I put it off more because it takes me that much longer!! Terrible, just terrible.

Well, for the past few weeks we have been working on the house most of all. As I have mentioned before we are doing a house remodel this summer (And probably next!). Craig is doing the work himself, with a little assistance from Micah and myself once in a while. To date he has our little office / Old porch that was enclosed and made a room gutted. We will be tearing that off completely. It has an old flat roof and it isn't worth saving so we are it will be gone for good. We had to move the landscaping rocks away from the house as we are going to skim coat our foundation. He has ripped off our front porch so we no longer can get into the house using that door. Lucky for us, we don't use that door anyway. We did however have to move our mailbox as the mailman decided to put a hold on our mail and not inform us! Luckily for us, we noticed quickly we weren't getting any mail, so we moved it at notified the post office.

This picture is of Micah getting ready to go help dad in the rain!! He had so much fun out there jumping in the mud puddles! Don't you love the outfit! Ha.. At the time, he didn't have rain boots so snow boots had to do. He didn't care one bit!
This is the aftermath! Daddy didn't see him come in the house and mom didn't hear him come in the house until he was standing in front of her!! Needless to say, I got to clean carpets!! OH well, a little cleaning is worth it! Seeing a little boys excitement about playing in the mud made cleaning pretty meaningless!
Our back deck was removed and taken away by some friends of ours parents. We are not going to reuse the deck and they could use it at their place in Brookings, so they came and hauled it away! It was a win win situation for everyone. Underneath our deck we had a cistern that was about 10' deep by 9' wide or so. Craig rented a jackhammer and broke the concrete top off of it and punched some holes in the bottom and sides so it wouldn't be a big hole to collect water! He also pumped out the water that was in it and cleaned the junk out of it. Then we ordered 2 truckloads of washed sand and filled it up. He brought home the skid steer from work to do that so that helped take some of the back breaking work out of it. However, every couple of dumps he would climb in and pack it by hand so he didn't have any air pockets that would settle.
The hole would never have been filled if he didn't have his little helper!!!
After all that hard work Micah got to go for a ride with dad!!
Here is a short video of the boys at work!!

On Saturday, June 6th we headed to Sioux Falls to get our windows. We had scheduled a date for Micah with Grandpa Kurt and Grandma Michelle. He was surprised to find out he was going to the "UP SHOW" as he says it. He was hooked on the word SHOW. I think that is because when we went to Vegas we kept talking about mom and dad going to a "SHOW". He felt that going to this movie was the equivalent! It was pretty cute. We spent 2 hours in Lowe's picking out our windows so I am very thankful we didn't have him with us!! After the window ordeal, we ran over to a our friend, Ryan's wedding reception. We didn't stay long but it was nice to see him, his family and his new wife, Rona. They look very happy and it sounds they have a wonderful future ahead of them!

That is enough enough for this post.. So I will say, to be continued.....................................

That's a cute video! I can't believe how big that hole was!! That's amazing! I'm sure Micah's dump truck loads were a huge help :) It's so hard to keep the blog updated in the summer. I have started only blogging on Mondays and Thursdays for the summer. We are outside too much and way too busy with baseball, soccer, and basketball. Not to mention work as well!! And we seem to be in the pool every day! Take care!!
