October 2, 2009

First off, I got my new computer up and running - finally! It is a laptop and so far, I like it. The only thing I have had problems with is the mouse pad placement. When I type I must somehow hit it or rub my fingers on it and I constantly open new tabs when I am on the Internet. I have also lost this post twice due to hitting some combination of keys/mouse pad etc and it is frustrating me to no end. I guess I just need to keep my thumbs up by the space bar, but due to my fingers being so short, that doesn't work very well. Probably sounds like a silly problem, but it is frustrating none the less. All in all, I am very happy with it and so far so good as far as function goes. It is also my first time with Vista, but no problems with that yet. I am sure that will come with time!

Last Saturday we attended the DSU homecoming parade. It is always a good time and nice to spend sometime with friends. Micah had a ball and got WAY to much candy!! :) It is like a prelude to Halloween I think. So much for my child not liking candy, I think that has long past! LOL..

Here are a few pictures and video's of the parade....

Micah waiting for the parade to start

Here is little video clip of Micah while the bands were going by.. He really enjoys music and from what I can tell, we might just have a future marching band member on our hands. It is from behind because I didn't want him to know I was shooting video of him cuz he would have stopped..

Here are 4 of the 5 friends hanging out before the parade started. Miranda wasn't having anything to do with a picture!
The overwhelming favorite of our group!! The Shriners have a Sprint Car Unit and they were awesome! They had an entire routine that they did and all the kids and adults in our group loved them. Granted, I am sure some people thought they took to long or something like that, but we could have watched them for hours!! Here is a picture of one of the cars.. I am guessing they are go carts, made to look like sprint cars, but I am not 100% sure. Here is a video clip of part of the routine..

Last Sunday we went to church/Sunday School and then that afternoon we hung out and tried to get a few things accomplished around the house. Sunday evening we went to Mel LaMar at church. He is a Magical minister and provided a great show to the kids. The kids had a challenge set before them by the youth pastor prior to the show. It was to bring as many friends as possible, if they brought more than 60 (I think) he would shave his beard, if they had more than 100, he would shave his beard and hair! They ended up with 80+ but being such a good sport, he put it to a vote and asked the kids if they would like to see him shave his hair anyways. Overwhelmingly of course they said YES, so he did it.. What a hoot and the kids really enjoyed it. A couple of kids were able to help shave it as they brought 3 + friends with them. Here is a picture of the process.. I am guessing he is going to be wearing a stocking cap for a while!! :)This last week + has been busy but a good kind of busy. Monday night Craig had a pool league meeting and I took Micah to story time at the library. He loves going there and seeing his friends and having the opportunity to read a new story! This week was about fish and he thought that was super cool. He has been eating more gold fish crackers all week because of it! :)

Tuesday and Wednesday we just hung out at home, working on a few things here and there and more importantly getting caught up on DVR shows!! :)

Thursday (yesterday), I stayed home with Micah as he was running a low grade fever. It stayed pretty low all day and he seemed to be acting fine. Despite being mad at me because he wanted to go to daycare it was a good day! He also had the start of a cough and his voice was beginning to go away. All in all we had a good day of cuddles and Tylenol. Last night I had volleyball. We played 6 matches and won 4. That seems to be our trend these past few weeks. I am really excited to be playing and getting off my butt. It is a start to a better me. LOL...

Here is a video of some fun we had yesterday. This is one of the bedrooms that we are gutting the lath and plaster in. We are going to rip out the carpet and everything and redo it. We put tape on the wall and let Micah practice his pitching skills. He did pretty good! We also learned that mommy is a much better pitcher than daddy!! :)

Today was a schedule mommy and Micah day. We were going to go to Sioux Falls shopping (we didn't have daycare today). This morning he woke up and had a 102.7 fever. He was miserable and in no shape to go anywhere. He has a cough and is really congested, the kind of congested that sounds like it is in his throat. He actually told me this morning he needed to go see Dr. Z. I asked him why and he said, "He needs to get this frog out of my throat!" I thought that was pretty cute. He just woke up now and seems to be feeling a little better. I need to go give him one more dose of Tylenol. Craig will be home in a little bit and I am going to head to Sioux Falls to do some shopping tonight. I think Micah will be mad at me, but hopefully ice cream and some daddy time will make up for it.

This weekend doesn't have much planned. Craig will be working on the house as the weather allows. He has taken all of next week off of work to work on it. Hopefully he will be able to get it sided + some..

I wish you all a great weekend and I pray the sickies stay away from everyone else!! Ta Ta for now!

Busy, busy!! Glad to hear (on facebook) that Micah is finally feeling better!! I had to order a new cord for my laptop and used my kids laptops in the meantime...and I had the same problems as you. It was so frustrating!! At times I wanted to throw the stupid thing through the window!! I was so happy to get my laptop back!! You will get used to yours though and you will love it!
